Don Preston was a friend of Paul Beaver's and after the MOI broke up, Don wanted to start his own group and asked Paul if he wanted to be in the group. Paul was too busy doing studio work but suggested that he ask me since I had just brought the IIIp from him and was looking for work. We started a group called Raw Milk (photos attached) with my Moog, Don's Mini Moog, a drummer and base player.
We rehearsed in Don's garage in Echo Park until the neighbors complained and the police showed up to ask us to turn it down. Don's music was 'different' and a challenge to play. Here's a sample from old, old tapes: http://jackreiner.com/rawmilk.htm
I love these old pictures of the group and the Moog in the background.

The group only lasted about 6 months. $25 a gig didn't go very far. After that, Don and I (with synthesizer) joined the Gil Evans Jazz Band and toured Europe for a while.
My time with Don was mind blowing for me at age 20-21. We're still in touch. I just talked to him the other day. He's 90 now and still sharp and playing. I'm 72 and not as sharp but still playing.
I'm sorry people have thought the Moog and I were a scam. It's not. We're both sitting right here in Salt Lake City.
